Djoomart Bokonbayev is one of the brightest, most recognized classics of national literature. His contribution to the creation of professional poetry and drama is enormous and priceless.

Being one of the founders of the Kyrgyz written literature, he remained in the history of the Kyrgyz people as a unique, original talent, whose works have already become an integral part of our spiritual life and culture.

Talented Kyrgyz poet and playwright - was born in 1910 in the ail of Mazar-Sai Ketmen-Tyuba district. Born in a poor family. Early losing his parents, he was brought up from 1924 to 1926 in the Kogart orphanage near Jalal-Abad.

Akyn raises in his works one of the main problems of his era - the problem of the development of national identity. Through the preservation of moral values, customs, traditions inherent in the Kyrgyz people, he tries to awaken their national feeling, thereby ensuring self-preservation.

Facts:

• From 1928 to 1931 he studied first in Osh, then in Frunze Pedagogical Colleges. Then at the Communist Institute of Journalism in Moscow.
• At the same time, he worked as the head of the department in the editorial office of the newspaper "Kyzyl Kyrgyzstan", and from 1935 to 1941 - the editor of the newspaper "Leninchil Zhash" and the editor-in-chief of the magazine "Soviet Adabiyat Zhana Art".
• The poet translated a number of works by A.S.Pushkin, M.Yu.Lermontov, N.A.Nekrasov, V.V.Mayakovsky
• A significant role in the work of the poet was played by his poem "Altyn kyz", published in 1935 According to its plot, a musical drama, a libretto of the operas "AiChurek", "Toktogul", the play "Semetey", etc. were created.
• Romance surrounded Joomart Bokonbaev, also because his wife was the beautiful Tenti, also a poet. They had two children: Kulubek and Syrga.
• The poet tragically died at a very young age, during a business trip in preparation for the filming of a film on the plot of the epic "Manas"

In Bishkek, on Erkindik Boulevard, there is a monument to Joomart Bokonbayev.
